The focus of these months was
disassembly of the '67 down to a bare frame.
removed the engine, transmission, radiator, etc. and all body bolts holding it to the frame.
removed the seats, dash, everything besides carpet and the windshield out of the car.
...and more
The focus of these months was
running into issues when we went to pull the body, the back-end where it was cracked at the back door jambs fell downward. The structure inside and outside was broken - the only way to fix it is to remove the quarter panels.
we found 220# of steel plates under the carpet, between the wheel wells. Remember, this was a dedicated drag Vette that needed more grip on the rear tires - more weight, more grip!
with some help from friends, the body was finally removed and supported - holding it together with the hardtop.
continued disassembly of the frame.
repairing areas and prepared it for sandblast & powder coating.
dissasembly of the L88 clone BBC engine, to better identify what the build was and what the condition of it was.
...and more
The focus of these months was
aquiring numerous stock suspension parts to start the reassembly of the frame and drivetrain.
some of what was completed her was later switched out for other better solutions for the end-game build.
...and more
The focus of these months was
We turned our attention to the body itself, analyzing and inspecting every part of it to understand direction and need.
there was body damage found on the left rear quarter panel and the right front corner.
we found bondo over an inch thick where the antenna was. The rear flares were pop-riveted and even held by metal screws under the bondo. In many of the areas the paint wasn't even scuffed before mounting of the flares. This made us sad but happy that we had to remove the flares to fix the quater panel structure.
The bulkhead (behind the seats) had been weakend due to alterations, so it was replaced.
the inside had signifant damage on the floor boards, trans tunnel, rear compartments, driveshaft tunnel, etc.
rear door jambs were severly cracked due to the substructure being broken.
the headlight / nose area had lots of serious cracks and even missing fiberglass.
...and more
The focus of these months was
during this time was on the body, stripping it down further, repairing and strentheninig damaged areas.
you could see the terrible job that was found after the rear quarter panel flares were removed.
we shifted to the engine compartment, flattening the firewall, building modesty panels to extend the fenderwells to the firewall.
C6 Corvette seats were purchased to use in the '67. Not liking the height of them sticking up, C6 decklid humps were acquired and moulded into already hacked up rear deck lid.
slicking-out the sides of the '67 a little, Kindigit Classic door handles were modified and utilized.
